Tessa had her 12 month check up today. She weighs 23 lbs and is 28.5 inches long. She has only gained 1 pound in 4 months (must be all the butt scooting and cruising). Her doctor was impressed with how many words and signs she knew. She said that it was okay that wasn’t walking on her own yet and being cautious isn’t a bad thing. She reinforced that routines are good and help children know what to expect so they aren’t anxious. I expressed to her how Tessa doesn’t like to have her hands dirty so she won’t eat finger foods and hasn’t been a fan of solids lately either. She told me it’s a good time to teach her how to use a spoon since she knows how to pick things up with her fingers. Tessa had to get 3 shots this visit and wasn’t happy about it!
